March 2018. Five Nights - March 18th - 22nd. Cost = £700. Five nights. Four full days shooting on location.

Glen Shiel

This workshop is centered around a stunning area of Scotland which contains beautiful and dramatic mountain and coastal scenery. Our base is in the village of Dornie, if you don't know where Dornie is, it is the village next to the world famous Eilean Donan Castle, if you do not know Eilean Donan Castle, see if you have an old shortbread tin lying around, there's a good chance it will be on there somewhere!!

Eilean Donan Castle

Our accomodation will be on a self catering basis at the lovely guesthouse Tigh Tasgaidh ( TIGH TASGAIDH WEBSITE ) on the shores of Loch Long. Since 2005 I have been using 'TT' for my photographic trips to the area, Louise its owner is a wonderful hostess and the house will be a wonderful base for our exploration of the area and a great place to relax in the evening after a day on location.

In terms of the photograph locations in the area, it is difficult to know where to start, it really is an embarassment of riches. A ten mile drive down the road brings you to the Skye Bridge, we will definitely be on the island for two days of the workshop, one day will be spent enjoying the delights of the Elgol road from Broadford, taking in Loch Cil Chriosd, Torrin (stunning views of Bla Bheinn) and finishing at that most dramatic of locations, Elgol itself. Another day on Skye will be spent on the Sleat Peninsula with it's stunning coastal locations and views.
On the mainland we have Glen Shiel, the Glenelg peninsula, Loch Long, coastal locations near Plockton, further afield but well worthy of a visit is the Applecross peninsula and as it would be rude not too, I am sure we will be visiting Eilean Donan Castle for a shoot as well.

Elgol, Skye

The workshop will begin on the Sunday afternoon when we will all meet up at the accomodation and introduce ourselves and discuss the days ahead. From Monday we then have four full days on location, unfortunately it just isn't enough to fit in everything but I will make sure we visit a wide range of locations. After our last day in the field on Thursday you then have a further night at the accomodation to rest before your journey home. If you would like to, I am sure Louise can accomodate a further couple of days stay if you want to explore the area further.

We will have access to cereals for breakfast, for the evening we have the option to visit a local hotel /pub for a meal or there is the option to buy yourself food to cook back at the accomodation, this will depend on what the group thinks is the best option and will be decided on a daily basis.

Ideally the workshop is catered for those at beginner or intermediate level, subjects to be covered on the workshop are:

Focal length choice.
Getting the most out of Live View.
The wider vista and the more abstract scene.

In terms of fitness, there will be no major hill walking on this workshop though a general good level of fitness is required. Please note some of the locations will be on difficult terrain such as rock and very boggy ground.

Please contact me via the contact page in the menu bar if you have any more questions regarding this workshop and I will get back to you as soon as possible. If you would like to go ahead and book the workshop or pay a deposit please click the purchase button below.
