MARCH 2018 - Four nights Sun 11th - Wed 14th. Cost = £600.
Please note I will be running this workshop in November 2018, please contact me if you are interested.

I first photographed the Isle of Skye back in 2005, my first photographic session on the island was an evening of incredible light at Elgol looking across a choppy Loch Scavaig towards the jagged outlines of the Cuillin Hills.

Since then I have returned many times and have had many wonderful experiences and days out on this beautiful island, it certainly is a place that will always remain dear to me.

In terms of photographic locations, Skye has an embarrassment of riches. The Storr, the Quiraing, Glen Sligachan, Elgol and Neist Point all spring to mind and whilst we will be visiting most if not all of these locations I hope that we will also have time to visit some less photographed areas.

We will be based just outside Portree where we will be staying in self-catering accomodation in a lovely house called Glen Osdale in the small village of Borve.I have stayed in the house on a family holiday and have used it for my previous Skye workshops, it is an ideal base for a workshop on Skye.

My reason for using self-catering accomodation is that first and foremost this is a photographic tour/workshop and time needs to be maximised out on location especially during the shorter winter hours.I will supply the food for breakfast time at the accomodation but any lunch or evening meals are not included in the workshop price. When we have finished shooting for the day we will then go out for an evening meal in the Portree area of if agreed we will buy in food for an evening meal at the house.

The workshop duration is for four nights. We will meet up on the Sunday, introduce ourselves and discuss the few days ahead and if the weather is looking good we will head out for the last light of day.Starting from Monday we then have three full days of photography where I will be on hand at all times to assist you and offer you guidance and advice.Further to this you are then most welcome to stay at the accomodation for the rest of the week (leaving Saturday morning) to explore the Island at your leisure or you are more welcome to join me for two days shooting on the Island, I will be making images myself but I will always be on hand to help if needed.

Ideally the workshop is catered for those at beginner or intermediate level, subjects to be covered on the workshop are:

Focal length choice.
Getting the most out of Live View.
The wider vista and the more abstract scene.

Because there is some hill walking involved a degree of fitness is required for this workshop.

Please contact me via the contact page in the menu bar if you have any more questions regarding this workshop or email me at;, as well as answering your questions I will also send a fact sheet about the workshop.
